Fretwork London is Otto — not a workshop of rotating staff. Alongside everyday setups and repairs, he specialises in high-value vintage restoration, period-correct nitrocellulose finishing and hand-carved archtop building. You hand your instrument to an experienced luthier and get it back playing better than ever, on a fixed price with nothing hidden.
Every collection, setup and return is done by Otto personally. 500+ London guitars set up by the same trained hands, from battered first acoustics to vintage Gibsons and Fenders.
Otto specialises in renovating high-value vintage guitars, including vintage-appropriate nitrocellulose paint finishing — meticulous, era-faithful work that most technicians won't take on.
Otto builds and repairs hand-carved archtop guitars — a time-consuming, highly specialised skill few luthiers in the country still practise.
Live with the setup. If the action, intonation or feel is off, Otto collects it and re-does the work at no charge. Free follow-up support comes as standard.
The setup is £65, full stop. Anything beyond it is priced and approved by you before a single tool touches your guitar — nothing extra ever appears on your bill.

No extras added at the till. The fixed £65 already folds in the two things most London shops charge for on top — a fresh set of strings and getting your guitar there and back. Same bench-quality work, one honest price.

“Absolutely brilliant service. Having the setup done at my home studio saved me so much time — my Martin D-28 has never sounded better. The intonation work was perfect and the action is spot on.”
“I'd struggled with high action on my Stratocaster for months. The mobile service was incredibly convenient and the difference is night and day. Professional job, fair price, no trip across London.”
“As a music student I really appreciated the educational side — exactly what was being done and why. My acoustic now plays like a dream and the new strings sound fantastic. Great value.”
“Professional from start to finish. My guitar needed extensive work and they delivered exactly as promised. The mobile service meant I didn't have to worry about transport at all.”
Guitarists trust one thing above all when it comes to their instrument — another player's recommendation. If a Fretwork setup earned yours, pass it on: every friend who books their first setup takes £10 off your next one. Our way of saying thank you for spreading the word.
Pass Otto's name to a bandmate, student or friend whose guitar could play better. It's how most of our work arrives — word of mouth.
When they book their first £65 setup and mention who sent them, we take it from their door like anyone else.
Once their setup is done, £10 comes off your next setup — every friend who books earns you another £10 credit.
£10 credit applies to your next standard setup once your friend's first setup is complete. There's no limit — refer as many players as you like.
Give your guitar the professional care it deserves. Book a mobile setup and we'll take it from your door.
You can also sit down with Otto for a free consultation, by appointment, at Sixty Sixty Sounds on Denmark Street — London's iconic guitar row.
